The ninth Lockerbie Jazz Festival is set to spread its wings and include a series of concerts in Moffat and a blues dinner in Annan as well as continuing with Lockerbie as the centre of the Festival.
The Festival presents a programme of stellar names including the BBC Big Band playing the great American Big Band classics with special guest Georgina Jackson; the Scottish Queen of the Blues, Maggie Bell is set to take to the stage on Saturday night, whilst Del Amitri guitarist Kris Dollimore is set to play Del Amitri Restaurant in Annan (now sold out) as well as having two outings in Lockerbie.
Jazz stars are queuing up to play in Moffat on Sunday with saxophonist John Burgess kicking things off with his specially assembled quartet playing a tribute to Scottish jazz great Alex Welsh. Then the world premiere of a duo between New Orleans clarinettist Evan Christopher and top Scottish jazz pianist, Brian Kellock. Virtuoso violinst Seonaid Aitken ends the day with her Django Reinhardt inspired band Rose Room.
